Theodore Roosevelt Jr. 

  • He was born on October 27th, 1858 and died on January 6th, 1919.

  • Survived an assassination attempt while campaigning as the Progressive (Bull Moose) party candidate because of a steel eyeglass case. The bullet was still lodged in his chest when he spoke at a rally later that day.

  • He fought in the Spanish- American war as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Rough Riders. He fought in the charge going up Kettle Hill and received the medal of honor posthumously.

  • Roosevelt had 5 children with his second wife (his first on died).

  • The River of Doubt was Renamed the River Roosevelt at the end of the expedition.

  • Roosevelt was severely weakened from a sickness that he contracted while on the trip.

  • Roosevelt was not only a President but Secretary of the Navy and Vice- President.
